The Nichols Community Center of Belleville, Illinois (near St. Louis) will be hosting ????ip Hop, Ya???? Don????t Stop????an interactive presentation and workshop about hip hop music and culture. The presentation will be facilitated by Daniel D. Zarazua, an educator, who has worked with universities such as San Diego State and The University of Michigan. As his alter ego DJ Chino, Daniel has spun with the likes of Eminem, Xzibit, and the Last Poets and made appearances across four continents. He is currently working with the Belleville Township School District. Through this workshop, participants will learn about the development of hip hop since its start in the mid-70s. By using records and a turntable set up, Daniel will trace hip hop????s roots and the factors that led to its wild popularity, setting the context for a group discussion about hip hop????s present state and its impact on young people. Participants will be encouraged to share their thoughts and perspective on a variety of issues. Dec 21 2002.
