Taiwan Pics 3

More pics from Taipei and the surrounding area, including salsa night at Brass Monkey with Latinos Taiwan, fish pedicures at Wulai, and more food shots!

I also include outings with friends and family which often times included eating good. Regarding Latinos Taiwan, it seems to be a fairly new organization and although I’ve exchanged e-mails with the founder, we didn’t really get to connect beyond this salsa night. Brass Monkey was a nice little venue and it was definitely a fun crowd. Wulai is a small town known for its hot springs, waterfalls, and indigenous Atayal culture. While there we took some time out to get a fish pedicure, in which hundreds of tiny fish eat the dead skin off of your feet. It was definitely and interesting experience, with my personal feelings ranging from disbelief, to disgust, to relief at my smooth feet. This is actually banned in a number of states in the U.S.

Did it hurt when the fish bit your feet?

My mom tells me that as a kid, I used to beg for pig blood on a stick the way American kids beg for cotton candy.

Can't say I ever got into the various "blood" products, although I have/do eat them from time to time. However, as a kid I was definitely into stuff like gizzards. Now, not so much.

Oh, so it didn't hurt. Definitely felt weird at first, like little pins, but didn't hurt. Very interesting...
