Victor is fourteen and was born in West Orange, New Jersey. When he was two years old he moved to Redwood City, CA with his family. He is currently a sophomore at Woodside High School. In his spare time he likes to hang out with his friends, play badminton and tennis, and occasionally play a video game. He hopes to become either a mathematician or some sort of engineer. He wrote this story while participating in the Summer Upward Bound Program at Stanford University.

The aliens invaded our home planet twenty-seven years ago. We had no idea why they came, or what they wanted. The day their ships came, we greeted them with kindness. They seemed to have kind intentions too. However, one day one of their species assassinated our leader during a meeting between our races. All hell broke loose from that moment on. They blocked every entrance in the conference room, and fired upon us. We were defenseless against their weapons. One by one they killed us in that room, but I managed to escape through a vent in a corner. I rushed out of the building, and teleported back to my living quarters.
Blast it all!
Soon the word broke out. Everyone knew about the massacre, and everyone was frightened for their lives. I was not afraid. I wanted revenge. These savages, these monsters, these hideous things invaded our safe planet, and were attempting to ruin it. I vowed to do everything in my

We will not lose.”

As soon as I went to get a drink, the alarm went off. We all knew what to do. Everyone rushed out of his or her cubicle, and into the supply room. We put on our armor, grabbed our plasma rifles, and headed out into the courtyard. The aliens were attacking.

The commander was waiting for us. We lined up, and awaited his orders.

“The aliens have managed to amount another attack on this sector.
We must defend the river at all costs. If they manage to take control
of the river, we will lose a critical supply route. I want the first unit
to meet the enemy head-on and distract them, while the second unit
heads into the catacombs and meet them from behind. The third unit will
provide air support for the first unit. Dismissed!”

I went with the first unit and jumped into a hovercraft. We each zipped out of the base, ready for battle. Among our departure, we were immediately under fire. My hovercraft was hit grazed by a missile, so I was forced to eject. I skillfully landed behind a
